From Maritime Law to Startup Life: Why I Believe in Jett Sender’s Mission

My name is Eugenia Munguía. I’m a Honduran attorney specialized in Maritime Law and Policy from the World Maritime University in Sweden. For over a decade, I’ve worked across public and private sectors in corporate, maritime, and administrative law. But what truly defines my path is the desire to build a meaningful career—one that adapts to complexity and aims to create tangible impact.

In 2019, my husband lost his job. At the time, I was working at the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine (GDMM) in Tegucigalpa, while he moved to San Pedro Sula to launch a construction business from scratch. I stayed in the capital with our son, trying to balance work, motherhood, and a long-distance family life. It was a period of uncertainty, travel back and forth, and a constant search for balance.

In early 2020, just before the pandemic hit, I was offered the opportunity to lead the legal department of a newly created government entity for supporting entrepreneurs. It was led by Luis Colindres, husband of my friend and former colleague Johana Solórzano—whom I had worked with at GDMM and studied with in Sweden. The decision to join the project felt natural: I trusted the people behind it and believed in its mission.

That year turned out to be one of the most challenging and meaningful of my life. In addition to the COVID-19 crisis, Honduras was struck by hurricanes Eta and Iota. Despite everything, we built the institution into a fully operational platform that helped thousands of small businesses survive. I also found out I was expecting my second child.

In 2021, after my maternity leave, my husband and I resumed seeing each other every two weeks by traveling between cities. But by the end of that year, I decided to close that chapter and relocate permanently to San Pedro Sula. The year 2022 became one of transition—new city, no family nearby, full-time motherhood, and supporting my husband’s business—all while reevaluating my professional path.

In 2023, I returned to work as an independent legal consultant, supporting law firms remotely and later, in 2024, teaching Maritime Law at a local university. That’s when Luis invited me to collaborate on what would later become United Jetpackers Inc. I began providing legal support in April 2024, and quickly became involved in multiple areas: legal structure, contracting, Jettsenders recruitment strategy, administrative processes, and compliance.

In August 2024, we formally founded United Jetpackers as a technology company with a purpose: to connect people who travel with those who need to ship products. But that was only the beginning of what is now an entire ecosystem. Together with the team, we created Dropelier, a marketplace that empowers artisan entrepreneurs to sell their products and their stories. We also created Keep Smart Business, a support platform for new businesses. And we launched Jett Supply, an automation solution for small businesses that seeks to reduce early failure in the first five years, using agentic artificial intelligence to assist them with orders, negotiation, and optimized logistics routes.

All of this is not just theory to me. My husband is an entrepreneur, and I have seen firsthand how difficult it is to sustain a business with limited resources, costly mistakes, risky pivots, and no support network. This experience allows me to better understand the users we want to serve.

Today, I am the Corporate Secretary of United Jetpackers Inc., and I am on track to strengthen and expand my knowledge in both the legal and technological areas. I am here not only because of my technical skills, but because I deeply believe in what we do. It is not a job; it is a mission. Our ecosystem helps real people, and that is what motivates me every day.
